Hello, lovely readers!
Today has been a rough one. I spent the whole day trying to learn a variety of new online skills for my blog, feeling that most of it was to no avail. I tried YouTube videos, forums, tutorials, and paying for programs I ended up feeling weren’t even helpful. All my efforts, seemingly to no avail. Now, 10 hours later, I can’t help but feel completely and utterly downtrodden.
I thought this post was going to be about remembering to drop what you’re doing and go outside to re-set yourself, but this post is not about that either. Around 3pm this afternoon, I decided to stop staring at a screen and go surfing. I was frustrated, the summer heat was finally getting to me, and my friend was ready to meet me.
It seemed like the perfect way to clear my head.
But you know what? Even surfing was difficult. I couldn’t stop thinking about how much more work I have to do to realize my passion, how much farther I have to go to get where I truly want to be. I got frustrated, paddling for waves and missing them, arms getting tired and strained, falling, and even getting a nice slice on my foot right at the end of the session. Today is one of those days where I want to crawl into a blanket, flip the switch on my overactive brain, and go to sleep by 8pm.
And you know what?
I think that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Because some days are just going to keep handing you set-backs, frustrations, and tiny annoyances which pile up incrementally until you feel you are on the verge of a complete meltdown. We all have those days. Today was one of those days for me.
But the great thing is that, just as when you have a terrible surf session, you can go home, rest up, re-set with a good night’s sleep, and wake up tomorrow, ready to catch another wave. Ready to keep following your passion, your dream, whatever that may be.
If you had one of those days today too, I hope you’ll join me, through the virtual world, in taking a break, letting yourself rest, and knowing that you are still doing your best, every day, whatever that may look like.
–sleep tight and stay lovely,
